The 59 Minute Workweek
It's true. Last week I worked 59 mins. Ok, so it was my vacation, but I really did only work 59 mins. It was actually less, but I thought The 59 Minute Workweek was a catchier title. :-) Even though it was my vacation, I still consider this a success, since most of us, especially entrepreneurs have a hard time breaking free from the grind.
Why can't I work 59 mins every week?
Why does being on vacation have to be different then any other week? Ya, I know it is a bit far fetched, but I truly think we all work to much and it would be great if we could find a way to shave a few hours off of our workweek, just like Tim Ferris tries to explain to us in the 4 Hour Workweek. Maybe it is not 59 mins., but it could be 25 hours, 10 hours etc.
All I did, was check emails once a day at 4 PM for apprx. 10 mins. I set up my out of office responder and that was it.
Working hard vs Working Smart
Jacob Morgan said it best in his post Working Hard vs Working Smart and the Myth that Young People are Told
Those that work hard usually evaluate success based on inputs such as the number of hours they work and the number of tasks they accomplish in a day or in a week and ultimately seek a large paycheck. Typically hard work means something like 60 or 70 hours a week (sometimes 80 or 90), working at home in the evenings and weekends, and continuously juggling multiple projects in a frantic attempt to get them all done....Those that work smart usually evaluate success based on the amount of discretionary time they have to do whatever it is they want to do. Smart workers don’t focus on inputs they focus on prioritizing in order to achieve the most valuable outputs in the most efficient ways. Smart workers usually have a much better work-life balance, are entrepreneurs, are able to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and manage time effectively.

Here is what I did during the week instead of work.
