Showing weakness takes strength
Like most golf fans I watched the unbelievable finish to the Ryder Cup yesterday as Graeme McDowell edged out Hunter Mahan in the final match on the 17th hole to give the Europeans the Ryder Cup.
During the final match, the weight of both countries was suddenly thrust upon McDowell and Mahan. Unfortunately with these events, there is always a winner and a "perceived" loser. Those that win, live in celebration for years, which it looks like the Euros are definitely on their way to enjoying their win. :-) And those that lose, sometimes become very emotional and take the final outcome to heart.
After watching this interview today, I then saw a tweet by Leo Babauta of Zen Habits directing people to a recent post by Seth Godin on Demonstrating Strength.
The final point in Seth's Blog really hit home after seeing everything unfold with the Ryder Cup and Hunter Mahan."Risking the appearance of weakness takes strength."
Hunter showed his weakness, which takes tremendous strength and he should be applauded for this. Hunter will be back, better then ever!
