Starting Something New (I am scared)
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. ~ H.P. LOVECRAFT

Most posts I write here are helpful advice on being an entrepreneur, web stuff and living the life you want. At least I think they are helpful. :-) Hope you do too.
Well...today is a bit different.
I want to pull back the curtain a little bit and share something more personal. I want to share with you something that most people shy away from talking about.
Here goes...
I recently watched the movie Inside Job. If you haven't seen it, check out the trailer here.
Being a web entrepreneur the last 11 years, I have to admit, I was a bit oblivious to what was happening in the corporate world.
Lets say I was avoiding the NOISE!!!
Well, after watching Inside Job and seeing the entire corporate world in the US go to shambles, I TOOK NOTE.
So, I decided to do some digging around in our own neck of the woods and I found out that:
1. The unemployment rate is rising and
2. People are still leaving our province(s) to find work elsewhere.
A duuhhh Chris, this is not Rocket Science!!!
Ok, so it took watching the Inside Job and seeing some big, local organizations making some major cutbacks and changes recently. Now I have a fear that both these numbers will continue to increase.
As I sit here in my little entreprenur bubble, safe and sound, I began thinking about all my friends and family who are working in the corporate world, hoping things will be ok for them.
I have to admit I was thinking about my own personal situation and how I can make sure we can continue to do what we love, but still make money while we do it.
Now, don't get me wrong, I am very thankful and grateful for what I have right now. But after seeing the mess out there, that I was oblivious to before, it has really got my wheels turning.
What Have I Been Thinking About?
As mentioned, I am very thankful for where I am at now. Most of you know I truly believe about living in the moment. However I stepped outside of the moment for a bit and began to reflect on the many things I have accomplished and learned over the last 11 years as an entrepreneur.
Here are just a few examples of what I have accomplished and learned:
- Launched Big Santo, our flaship product, which has resulted in amazing success for our customers and our business.
- Learned that working less is ok, but you still have to work smart.
- I have taken my fitness to the next level.
- I have met many amazing people over the years. I don't think I would of met them all if I wasn't an entrepreneur.
- There is more to life then work.
- It's cool to be a small company and great at what you do.
- Being rich is not determined by your paycheck.
- Cashflow really is King!
the list goes on....Whether perceived as good or bad, this is the journey for me.
Get to the point Chris!!!
Ok, ok, there is one other thing that I have been thinking about over the last few months. It involves something that scares me, and it's personally bigger than anything I have ever done on a professional level.
People have been asking me for this for a long time, and it’s something I’ve thought about doing, but was never quite sure I wanted to, or if it would even work.
But, I’m seriously considering taking this on, even though it will involve a ton of work, and will require me to give more than I ever have. It will also mean that I’ll have to be more transparent and collaborative than I ever have.
When I do this, I’m going to need your help.
… And in the next post, I’ll share what that is. Stay tuned. :)
PS: Until then, I’d love to know what you think about this whole fear of the unknown concept that some of us have and our current situation with the economy.
