Saint John Set To Celebrate Best In Social Media - The Saltys to be handed out at uptown event this month

Saint John, New Brunswick - Twitter, Facebook and Blogs will be buzzing with excitement around the Port City as the city’s marketing community counts down to the debut of The Saltys, an event honoring the region’s best social media producers. With awards slated for Twitter Person of the Year, Best Facebook Page, Coolest Blog and Best Use of Social Media in a Campaign, The Saltys are certain to be fun evening to recognize the brightest stars in the once emerging but now very mainstream social media world. The event is scheduled for 5pm-7pm on Thursday, February 17th at the Saint John Ale House. Admission is free. 

Longtime web marketers & event co-chairs Craig Allen & Chris Nadeau collaborated to create the awards evening as way to celebrate excellence in the field. “From our perspective in the trenches of the New Brunswick web marketing sector, it’s obvious that Saint John is the social media capital of the province. It’s a tech savvy city and folks have really caught on to how powerful of a medium social media can be for everything from promoting your small business to becoming more engaged in your own community.” said Mr. Allen.  Mr. Nadeau added, “We wanted to have a fun night to get everyone together, so we are going to make sure that the attitude around the awards is festive. Thanks to our key sponsors at Moosehead, Uptown Saint John Inc. and 3 O’Clock Communications, we are able to keep the event free to attend. We’re confident the evening will be a blast.” 

Nominees for the awards are being selected by a jury comprised of a who’s who of marketing professionals from around the city including Mr. Allen (Craig Allen Agency), Mr. Nadeau (Evolving Solutions), Bruce Wright (The Wright Agency), Derek Riedle (Revolution Strategy), Metaxia Flogeras (Pulse Communications),  Ray Gracewood (Moosehead Breweries), Jillian MacKinnon (Saint John Destination Marketing Inc.), Stephanie Bell (MT& L Public Relations) and Marc Lewis (3 O’Clock Communications). The nominees are set to be announced on February 9th with online voting at www.thesaltys.com to select to the final winners. “We knew we couldn’t have a proper social media awards without the winners being selected by the community. We’ll be as excited to see the end results as anyone.” said Mr. Allen.
