Do you believe in the 4 hour workweek?
Is it possible? Can you really only work 4 hours in a week? Tim Ferriss thinks so.
I must admit, before I read Tim's first edition of the 4 Hour Workweek, I was somewhat skeptical and even after reading it I still thought there is no way this is possible. But I did learn some valuable lessons in the first edition that I was able to utilize in my workweek. Now I am presently reading the expanded and updated 4 Hour Workweek book, which is very similar to the original 4 Hour Workweek, but with more real life samples. And I am either more open minded or I am at a point in my life where this is making much more sense now and seems possible.
Can you imagine working four hours a week? When you read that, do you think I am crazy? What if you could accomplish just as much in 4 hours as you do in 40? Society has brain washed us thinking we need to be in an office from 9-5 every day doing unproductive tasks. This is why we frown upon the concept of working 4 hours. I know, I did it.
Now I am not at the 4 hours per week yet, but I am going to be getting there some day. Really what risk is there to not try this? Go buy the book and read it. Even if you can limit your week to 20 hours, think about how life changing that will be. And for all the employees out there, this is for you too. You don't have to be an entrepreneur.
Here are some questions to ask yourself if you don't have time to read the book:
- What 20% of sources are causing 80% of my problems and unhappiness?
- What 20% of sources are resulting in 80% of my desired outcome and happiness?
- If you had a heart attack and had to work two hours per day, what would you do?
- What would you eliminate to keep the negative effect on income to a minimum?
Helpful tips:
- Do not multitask.
- Low information diet.
- Check email twice per day and never check email first thing in the morning.
- Get an assistant even if you don't need one.
Well these are a few things to help get you rolling, but I do recommend reading one of the books. I would say this guy read 4 Hour Workweek.
So am I crazy? What do you think?
