Change Your Life In An Instant

Most people believe that it takes months and years to transform their lives.  Actually, you can literally change your life in an instant by making a single decision never to go back to the way you have been living - no matter what.  What takes months, years and sometimes decades is the maintenance required to live by that decision.  -- Daily Inspiration, Robin Sharma

Does this quote make you think about changing?  If so, what are you going to change?

Great video and great quote Chris.
I've been working on a few changes myself including exercise. Sitting behind a computer for hours at time has taken it's toll on me and so I decided at the beginning of the year to start working out daily and so far it has been going well and I'm hoping by my birthday to have dropped around 20 pounds.
The other change that both my wife and I have just recently made is a computer and gadget free day every week. On Sunday's we now turn off the computers and cell phones and spend the day focusing solely on family activities without the distractions of gadgets and computers.
It is true you can make quick changes to your life you just have to decide that you want to.

Thanks Chad and thanks for sharing. Great idea on the gadget free day. I really like that and I think we might have to give it a try here as well.

Great stuff. That's great news Chad! Glad to hear the exercising is going well. I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate a "connect-free" day into my life also. I may start with 1 day every 2 weeks to ease into it :). For me, changes I am trying to make are to do things that matter to me the most early in the mornings. It's going pretty well so far. I try to do my yoga, meditation and drum practice before I begin work. Luckily I have a "flexible" work schedule so I can usually pull it off :-)

Don't get me wrong, other things matter more to me than yoga, meditation and drums. I guess I meant more "my" things that I would like to have completed before the day gets rolling along to much :-)

Great comments! Really like the idea of a Connect-Free or Gadget Free day. I'm not much for gadgets (Phones, iPods etc.) but I do spend a lot of time in front of a computer.
@Adrian - I also try to get my workouts done early in the morning. I find that it's the best time for me and I can focus on getting fit before the day's work and life distractions have a chance to mount up.

For me, it just seems to make the day go a bit smoother when you don't have to figure out where to fit everything in.

Maybe I should of called this "Getting up early and exercising can change your life" :-) Tyler, you are living proof that we do not "need" cell phones.

You are right about making the decision stick. I have been trying to get my life back on track but than I fall into the same habits. I am really trying to break free from toxic people in my life. Which is a challenge.

Jamie, the maintenance side is the toughest part. Adrian shared a nice quote from the Dalai Lama that might help.

"From my viewpoint all things first originate in the mind. Things and events depend heavily on motivation. A real sense of appreciation of humanity, compassion, and love are the key points. If we develop a good heart, then whether the field is science, agriculture, or politics, since motivation is so very important, these will all improve."

Good luck and let me know if I can help in anyway.
