Are You Still Not Blogging For Your Business?

Today I am going to show you what can happen to your website traffic when you blog on a consistent basis.  After I show you my little case study I will show you the perfect resource (affiliate link) to help you get started and start crushing it on your business blog.

But first, this simple case study

Now, I have been blogging for a number of years (5 or 6), but my first few years had no real purpose.  I still don't really have one, but it is a little more defined then before. :-)  However, in the past few months I have put more of a focus on the content that I write on this blog, especially from a business perspective.  The reason I did this?  Well I guess I finally figured out what my readers wanted to see here and so I figured if I like communicating the information they want to see, then it is a win-win for everyone.

For those of you who are visiting here for the first time, I like to share tips/how to's on tools you can use on the web to better your business, life as an entrepreneur, hockey and tidbits from my personal life.  Now that you get the idea, as mentioned, this last month I really focused on "helping & educating" my audience in the easiest way possible.  What you will see from the analytics for our website is tremendous.

Some key numbers that jump out in the chart above:

  • Almost 700 more visitors in the last month.
  • Pageviews almost doubled.
  • Pages per visit up 16%
  • Avg. time spent on the site increased a 129%

Wow!  I didn't even expect that.  In this case the numbers don't lie, but even if I didn't have the analytics to show, I would know there has been an improvement just by the conversations that are occurring around each blog post, whether it be via comments, twitter, facebook or a combo of all of the above.

What does this mean for your business?

Well, I think it is pretty simple.  The more traffic you have coming to your website, with your blog attached, the more chances you have in engaging those visitors in some business.  Now, there is a whole other piece in making sure you convert the visitors, but that is for another day, but getting the audience to come is the first step.

So, when is the last time you updated your site?

If your answer is since Wayne Gretzky retired from the NHL, stop reading now!  Has it been six months, a year, never? That’s OK, I already know the answer. Unless you are blogging consistently you probably don’t pay too much attention to your site.

And that’s why your competition is or will be kicking your you know what very soon!

How do you get started?
